Halifax, N.S. - The Halifax Hurricanes are pleased to announce the signing of 6'6" forward from Fredericton, New Brunswick Kyle Arseneault. The former Acadia University player is entering his third year of professional basketball in the National Basketball League of Canada.
"Kyle has had two seasons under his belt to make the necessary adjustments from college basketball to the pro level. He has demonstrated he can score the ball from the perimeter and defends and rebounds well from his position. Similar to former player AUS player Meshack Lufile, I believe Kyle has the potential to raise his level of play this coming season," says head coach Mike Leslie. "As a player he has a high basketball IQ, is very unselfish, and is a committed and hardworking young man. He is truly a genuine nice person and respected teammate who is very excited about the opportunity to play in Halifax."
Arsenault shot 48.9% from the field with his last two seasons with the Acadia Axemen and averaged 29 minutes of playing time per game. He is a perimeter player who started his professional career with the KW Titans and played for the Island Storm last season.
"Kyle has that pro-like work ethic and he takes advantage of every opportunity to improve his game. He has a nice feel for the game on the offensive end and has great range on his jump shot. During his time at Acadia he was a team captain and one of the best teammates we have had in the past ten years," says Axemen coach Kevin Duffie. "He always puts the team first in every aspect and will do whatever it takes to help them win. The impacts he made during his career here still impacts the culture to this day."
The Halifax Hurricanes begin their 2019/20 season in Charlottetown on Saturday, December 28, 2019 and play their home opener Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 2 pm at the Scotiabank Centre.
