Hurricanes' defence stops Magic short, forces Game 7

It was an old school defensive playoff game on Friday at Scotiabank Centre and the Hurricanes beat the Moncton Magic 86-70 to force a Game 7 in the NBL Canada Atlantic Division Finals.

Moncton led only briefly at the beginning of the third quarter and next grabbed the advantage. Halifax limited Moncton to just 31.5 per cent shooting on the night and just 15.6 per cent from three. The Hurricanes also won the battle on the glass, blocked more shots and stole the ball 17 times.

Terry Thomas put the Hurricanes on his back again offensively. He had another monster double-double performance with game-high 28 points on a crazy efficient 12-25 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also grabbed a team-high three steals.

Tyler Thornton came off the bench for Halifax with 12 points, going four for eight from the three-point line.

Jordan Washington also had a good night off the bench, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring nine points in nine minutes.

Game 7 of the division finals is on Sunday, May 5 in Moncton at 2 p.m. at the Avenir Centre. The winner advances to the 2019 NBL Canada Finals against the St. John's Edge who clinched their first-ever finals trip on Friday night against the KW Titans.
