RECAP: Hurricanes defeat River Lions in front of home crowd in Halifax

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JAN. 12, 2018

HALIFAX, N.S. -- The Hurricanes grabbed a big win over the visiting Niagara River Lions on Friday night with a commanding score of 107-89.

The Hurricanes started the game with a big 31-point first quarter while limiting the River Lions to just 13 points in the frame.

They maintained the lead through the first half and fought off a River Lion comeback in the third quarter to easily close the game in the fourth.

Tyrone Watson netted a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds in his return to Scotiabank Centre after missing a few games in December for an injury.

Much of his offence was fueled by the expert point guard play of Cliff Clinkscales who 14 points and nine assists. He was four for four from beyond the three-point line as well.

Big man Rhamel Brown had a strong 10 point, 10 rebound performance.

Friday's game was sponsored by RCS Construction and Mill-Right Woodworking Inc.

The Hurricanes will host the Island Storm at the Scotiabank Centre on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
