Former SMU Huskies guard Rouse signs with Halifax Hurricanes

For Immediate Release – Oct. 5, 2017

Halifax, (NS) – The Halifax Hurricanes, defending 2017 NBLC Atlantic Conference Champions, have signed former Saint Mary’s University Huskies player and AUS all-star Brian Rouse.

A 6’4’’guard from Mississauga, Ont. Rouse played five years in Halifax, culminating in an appearance at the U Sport Final 8 Nation Championships at last March right here in Halifax.

Rouse cracked the AUS all-rookie team in 2011-12 and was an all-star for his 2015-16, 2016-17 seasons, during which he averaged 15 points per game on 49% shooting from the field, while also 4.5 rebounds per game.

Huskies’ coach Jonah Taussig speaks highly of Rousey saying, “I loved coaching Brian throughout his university career, and am looking forward to watching him start his pro career here in Halifax. He is a great athlete who I think will fit in well with the Hurricanes.”
